Arrow Panel at Comic-Con: New Costumes, New Villains & New Roles for Season 4

by Clarissa / July 11, 2015

After dropping some spoilers in the Arrow press room earlier in the day, the Arrow cast (Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy, David Ramsey, Willa Holland, Emily Bett Rickards, John Barrow and Paul Blackthorne), producers (Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg, Wendy Mericle) and DC’s Geoff Johns took to the stage in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con to tease more of season 4 of Arrow.

A new suit. Oliver Queen is getting a new suit for season 4 of Arrow (see the photo above)! Berlanti says that a big part of the show has always been about the progression of Oliver from the Arrow to Green Arrow and this new suit is really the first step in that big progression.

A new Oliver. Kreisberg says that when the season starts, Oliver is in a much better place. He’s happy and he’s in love. The show will be a little bit more fun and have a little bit more humor, but it’s still all about shooting arrows. Mericle also added that Oliver will be making a few more jokes in the lair. Part of Oliver’s evolution is to see him in love and see him working with someone that’s also part of his superhero mission.

More villains are coming. We know Damien Darhk is coming to Starling City in season 4, but there’s another big bad coming in addition to Damien — Anarchy — in addition to more characters from the DC universe. Guggenheim also reminded fans that Arrow likes to tell the secret origins of various characters (such as Roy Harper), and this year the show will tell another origin story: Mr. Terrific. He’s going to be working with Felicity and will be a good friend of hers. In addition, their version of Mr. Terrific will be gay.

A new costume. Oliver isn’t the only one getting a new suit, because Diggle is also getting a new helmet. In fact, he’ll officially be getting a costume in order to protect his identity.

New interactions. We’ll be seeing more interactions between characters who haven’t spent much time together in the past, such as Felicity and Malcolm, and Laurel and Thea.

Arrow will return for its fourth season on Wednesday, October 7 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
