Gotham Previews: Meet James Gordon and Harvey Bullock

by Clarissa / September 15, 2014

When James Gordon first arrives at the Gotham police department he’s paired with Detective Harvey Bullock, and the new partners couldn’t be more different as we can see from these new previews and interviews with the cast and producers. Donal Logue plays Bullock as a veteran of the city and someone who has had to “develop his own brand of morality,” says Logue. When the audience first meets Bullock, it’s clear that he’s comfortable skirting on the edge of the law and doing what it takes to get the job done.

Jim Gordon, meanwhile, is the upstanding, idealistic young cop who is determined to do right by the people of Gotham. Born in Gotham but having lived away from the city for a long time, he’s straight out the military when he takes the job at the Gotham PD. Two weeks into the job, he stumbles upon the murder of Martha and Thomas Wayne and it’s this case that sets his life on the path that we all know is coming. But can Gordon keep his idealism and desire to do good in the face of a police department and a city that seems more eager to use corruption and crime as the tools to get things done?

Don’t miss the series premiere of Gotham airing on Monday, September 22 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on Fox. You can also learn about two of Gotham’s criminals — Oswald Cobblepot and Fish Mooney — here.
