The Wolf of Wall Street

The Wolf of Wall Street, the new film starringĀ Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Matthew McConaughey and directed by Martin Scorsese, is based on the book of the same name by Jordan Belfort. In fact, DiCaprio is playing Belfort in the film, which is based on Belfort’s own life high atop the world of finance in the 1990s.

In the movie, Belfort is a New York City stockbroker who lives life in the excess and refuses to cooperate in a giant securities fraud investigation. His attitude towards money can best be summed up by a line from the trailer: “My name is Jordan Belfort. The year I turned 26 I made $49 million, which really pissed me off because it was 3 shy of a million a week.” Make way for the drugs, the girls, the yachts and the obscene amount of money being thrown around Wall Street.

The film also stars Jean Dujardin (from The Artist), Rob Reiner and Kyle Chandler (from Zero Dark Thirty, Super 8 and Friday Night Lights).

The Wolf of Wall Street will open in November and marks the fifth collaboration between DiCaprio and Scorsese.
