A car crashes through an eatery window signaling that NCIS starts its road trip through a three-episode arc that begins tonight and ends with a shocking season finale on May 12.

As the team races to solve the murder of a Naval warfare engineer, Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) discovers evidence that the victim was not alone in the automobile. Blood on the car door indicates that the ensign may have been driving with a knife to her throat when she ran a red light.

Special Agent Ned Dorneget (recurring guest star, Matt Jones) returns from NCIS Cyber Operations to assist in the investigation, which hits a traffic jam of firewalls and classified information.

Dorneget’s return drives the arc into the remaining episodes of the season, which tackle international terrorists recruiting children via the Internet, a deadly bombing overseas, and a surprising emotional loss for the team.

Also returning to the canvas is audience favorite, Jamie Bamber, as Bishop’s husband, NSA Attorney Jake Malloy. Check the sneak peek below for a hilarious scene when Bishop (Emily Wickersham) tells DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and McGee (Sean Murray) that new BFFs Jake and Gibbs (Mark Harmon) meet for racquetball every week.

Automotive metaphors almost aside, this season-ending arc promises to be a real “looky-loo.”

NCIS also stars David McCallum, Rocky Carroll and Brian Dietzen. Other guest stars in tonight’s episode, “Troll,” include Anil Kumar, Bernardo De Paula, Erica Tazel, Jessica Garza, Ryan Sands, Marci Simon, Heather Sossaman, Kevin Fonteyne and Cody Sullivan. “Troll” was written by Co-Executive Producer, Scott Williams, and directed by Dennis Smith.

NCIS airs tonight at 8pm ET/PT on CBS.
