The Walking Dead chronicles the adventures of a group of survivors in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies (Aka roamers, walkers, biters, etc). Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) woke up from a coma finding his world gutted and the streets teeming with The Walking Dead. His first priority was to find his wife and son, and along the way he became the leader of a hardened group doing whatever necessary, without a moral compass, to survive in this savage new world where the living can be more danger than the flesh eating hoards.
Over the course of five seasons, the characters of The walking Dead have sought, and occasionally found, refuge from the zombies encountering an increasingly deadly string of villains along the way. Their safe haven at an abandoned prison was gutted in their war with The Governor, and more recently they tangled with a troop of cannibals luring survivors to a supposed safe haven called Terminus.
The current group of survivors includes Rick, his son Carl, daughter Judith, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), Glenn (Steve Yuen), Carol (Melissa McBride), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), Eugene(Josh McDermitt), Rosita(Christian Serratos), Abraham(Michael Cudlitz), and Gabriel(Seth Gilliam). The Walking Dead is known for killing off major characters, so this list is subject to change.
The Walking Dead was developed from the graphic novel series of the same name by Academy Award Winner Frank Darabont. The comic series was created by Robert Kirkman, who now serves as an Executive Producer and Writer for the series. Currently in its fifth season, The Walking Dead has achieved unprecedented success for AMC scoring the highest ratings of any original Cable TV series. A spin-off of The Walking Dead is planned for 2015.
