After making an appearance at The Flash press room in the afternoon, the cast members (Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Rick Cosnett, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh) and the producers (Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Geoff Johns) took to the stage in Hall H to discuss a few new characters and the introduction of Earth 2.
New characters. Kreisberg dropped the spoilers that the show will be introducing Professor Zoom in season 2 and he’s going to be faster than the Flash and the Reverse Flash and it’s going to be very hard to catch him. The show will also be introducing Jay Garrick and Wally West. According to Warner Bros, Jay “is a mysterious figure who arrives in Central City to warn Barry Allen and his team at S.T.A.R. Labs of an impending danger that he alone cannot hope to stop.” Patty Spivot will also be joining the cast and she is a police officer and science enthusiast who catches the eye of Barry Allen. Patty is obsessed with metahumans and partners with Det. Joe West this season but has no idea that her new crush is The Flash.
Earth 2. The season 2 premiere will pick up a few months after the events of the season 1 finale and will deal with the fallout of the cataclysm that happened at the end of the year. As they used the particle accelerator to introduce metahumans, so too will they use the events of season 1 to introduce characters from Earth 2, which is part of Jay’s origin. Kreisberg says that Jay is integral to the Flash mythology and was the first Flash. Now that they’ve established their version of Flash they wanted to introduce the original Flash and create a new relationship for Barry.
Cisco’s journey. In the latter half of season 1, Cisco starting having these visions and experiencing biological changes in his mind. Those effects will augment themselves over time and the beginning of season 2 will feature with Cisco dealing with those changes and the repercussions of Thawne’s declaration that Cisco has a destiny.
Iris’s new role. We’ll see Iris have “a new sense of agency” and she’ll be spending more time in Star Labs and will be part of the Flash team in some aspect. Cisco and Caitlin are the tech side of the team, while Iris is more of the heart and can use her knowledge of the streets and people to help out.
The Rogues. The show will be to the Rogues gallery and will have a Captain Cold/Golden Glider episode early on. In addition, fans will be learning more about the Snart family.
The Flash will return for its second season on Tuesday, October 6 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
