Brandon thought that he would have to give up on his dream of being a classical musician after getting his hand slammed in a car door by Vico. Although he managed to heal pretty miraculously, the incident took away some of the dexterity in his hands and made him feel like a shell of his former self. To make it in the world of classical music, one has to be technically precise, able to play the same songs flawlessly each and every time you step in front of your instrument. With his insecurity about classical music growing, Brandon threw himself into the comparatively easier world of Someone’s Little Sister and found a girlfriend in the process, but a part of him always wondered whether he still had it in him to play classical music professionally.
On the next episode of The Fosters, Brandon receives good news about his spot in the summer music program to which he was accepted. He might have lost his spot for waiting too long to make a decision, but they’re still willing to give another space in the program, considering the outside factors that affected his playing ability. The only catch? He has to audition. Brandon has been looking forward to the tour for months, as it’s a big step toward being on his own and a way for him and Lou to spend as much time around one another as they could without parental supervision. He’d get to see what life for a touring professional musician was like and earn the valuable life experience that would help him in the future, but he held on to the dream of being a classical musician for too long to give it up without seeing where his playing ability is at. If he were to audition, he would know about where his head and hand are at and whether he still had what it took to make it in such a competitive field. Were he to bomb, it’s just that much more motivation to head out on tour with the band; however, the fear of success is the only thing keeping him from auditioning, as he knows that he’d have a tough decision to make if it he got back into the program. Should Brandon tell Lena and Stef about the situation with the program and the opportunity to re-audition? Or is this a situation he needs to figure out for himself?
Elsewhere on The Fosters, Stef confides in Lena and Callie a plan that could help the family adopt Callie, while Lena confesses her conflicted feelings about expanding her family and Jude breaks the rules in order to be with Connor.
The Fosters airs Mondays at 8:00 on ABC Family.
Do you think Brandon should audition for his spot in the summer program? What will Stef’s plan to officially adopt Callie consist of? Will Jude landing in trouble in order to be with Connor force him to tell Lena and Stef about the kiss?
