The Vampire Diaries Season 7 Premiere Sneak Peek: Bigger and Badderby Melissa J. L. Smith Sciuto / October 7, 2015
“Steroline,” the uni-name for Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice Accola King), is a couple in transition when The Vampire Diaries returns.
Caroline, still in emotional upheaval from her mother’s death, Elena’s sleeping curse, the turning off of her humanity, then turning it back on, and her fling with Stefan, is enough to make a woman rethink her relationships and priorities. Caroline Forbes needs a little time before getting deeper into her relationship with the younger Salvatore.
But “needing a little time” is a phrase that has a whole other connotation for vampires. Immortality has its price, and the price for Steroline is waiting to see what happens after Stefan tells Caroline about his feelings for her. Until then, the couple agrees to be friends to avoid that awkwardness that comes with unresolved emotions.
Stefan and Caroline have plenty to keep them busy in the meantime. Salvatore mom, Lily (guest star Annie Wersching) and her “family” of Heretics have decided to take over Mystic Falls. The witch/vampire hybrids are the most terrifying evil ever to beset The Vampire Diaries (which is something considering Mystic Falls history).
Stefan and Caroline team up with Matt (Zach Roerig), the token human in the group of friends and a recent graduate of law enforcement training, to put a stop to the Heretics. The hybrids are doing their best/worst to cause havoc in town and one of the three friends is in danger as a result.
The rest of the Mystic Grill group are fighting their own demons. Bonnie (Kat Graham) must live with the fact that Elena’s return is tied to the Bennett Witch’s mortality. Enzo (Michael Malarkey) has to decide if his feelings for Lily are strong enough to make him a part of her new life. Alaric (Matt Davis) must grieve for his almost-bride and their unborn twins.
Then, there is Damon (Ian Somerhalder). With Elena out of the picture for twenty-two thousand days, give or take, (around sixty years), whatever will the elder Salvatore do without his moral compass.
While Bonnie may try to lessen the chasm between Damon’s ethics and his true nature, there will be blood…and sex…and more blood for the next few decades. Damon returns to his deliciously devilishness of Season 1.
The season premiere of The Vampire Diaries, “Day One of Twenty-Two Thousand, Give or Take,” was written by Executive Producer, Caroline Dries, and directed by Co-Executive Producer, Pascal Verschooris. Guest stars are Elizabeth Blackmore, Scarlett Byrne, Teressa Liane, Justice Leak and Jaiden Kaine.
Will this diverse group of friends and frenemies put its differences aside to fight the Heretics? Tune in for the season 7 premiere of The Vampire Diaries on October 8 at 8pm ET/PT on The CW.
